Forever Family. I love the sound of those words. November is National Adoption Month. I can’t believe this slipped my mind.
If these words are new to you, it is an easy way of expressing the family that a child receives upon adoption.
Families are forever, right?
The process of adoption joins a child who needs a home with a person or couple who wants to be parents. Forever.
I think its a beautiful thing, and perhaps since I consider myself a bonafide parent now, I forget all that it took to bring Juliana into our home as our daughter.

Waiting to get pregnant.
Then we were waiting to be foster parents.
Finally, we were waiting for a child to come.
So much waiting that was so well worth it.
This week, I heard a quick promo on the radio about adoption; a child getting a forever family.
Boy, oh boy, did I cry. And smile.
Good memories sprang to life of our adoption process; how our life changed when we said yes to being foster parents.
Things have never been the same and that’s a good thing.
While parenting was new for my husband and me, we knew some things were different with Juliana.
After some time and testing, we learned about her diagnosis of Angelman Syndrome.
Is our life different? Absolutely.
But, we are blessed to have this beautiful kiddo in our lives. Forever.
From her contagious smile to her squeeze-the-life-outta-you hugs, I’m grateful for this busy little one who keeps me on my toes.
What are you grateful for today?
