Oh, the Magic of Simple Things

As we say goodbye to Thanksgiving 2018, I’m finishing off my grateful posts–but that won’t lessen my gratitude as we move into the season of giving.

Sometimes, the measure is in the simplicity of things. You know the concept of less being more. And that is what I liked most about this past week and our Thanksgiving holiday.

We had quite a laugh when I chased Juliana through Home Depot while picking out our tree. Just simple, lovely fun.

This might seem insignificant, but Home Depot was the first place Juliana took big strides in walking and ran to me down a Home Depot aisle. There’s just something about the place that brings out the runner in her.

Our tree is always up the day after Thanksgiving. It would be incomplete without all the handmade ornaments that are better than anything store-bought. The bonus was the seven-year-old with the cute smile and candy cane.

Holidays can be so stressful and sometimes they bring up reminders of what we don’t have. But we can change that by remembering the magic and simplicity of the things we do have.

What simple thing are you grateful for today?

Sabrina, I believe “magic” is the operable word. You remind us that same joy is within everyone’s reach; if only we open our eyes and enjoy the moments God sets before us. You always see it, articulate it so well, and therefore touch us all. Thank you for that!

Dan, thank you so much for those kind words and kudos. It warms my heart to read your comment and I hope people don’t miss that in my writing. You give me hope that others will “get” that message too. Thanks so much for stopping by and letting me know that my “simple” messages do matter.
